This Jane Doe Murder in Yakima, Washington Has Vexed Police Since 1988
The Yakima County Coroner is hoping to find help in identifying a body found in 1988 near the Parker Dam in Parker, Washington.
Coroner Jim Curtice says he’s hoping to find a “presumptive family member for DNA testing to finally identify the person.”
Curtice issued a digital art picture of the female who was found dead near the dam in 1988. He says her remains were buried in 1989 in a Yakima cemetery. Curtice says he doesn’t know how she died but it’s presumed she was a victim of a homicide.
A wiki for unidentified persons shares:
The victim was found near a dirt road on tribal land close to the Yakima River.
Despite an examination revealing that she was of Native American ancestry, she is not believed to be part of the Yakima Nation.
Further, the hometown newspaper Yakima Herald, which does a series on The Vanished adds more depth
Much about this young woman and her life is a mystery. Ever since a horseback rider discovered her skeletal remains and clothing on Feb. 16, 1988, near the Parker Dam and the unincorporated community of Parker, authorities have sought the person they believe murdered her. At the same time, someone has been missing this 30- to 40-year-old woman, believed to be Native, who could be a mother, a sister, a cousin, an auntie, a friend.
If you can help or recognize this person you are urged to contact the Yakima County Coroner’s Office 509-574-1610 and or the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office 509-574-2500.
