Something strange happens on a Missouri road known as "Gravity Hill". Video proves that vehicles appear to roll...uphill. The legend seems to be real.

Kudos to Only In Your State for this find. It's a stretch of road near Freeman, south of Kansas city. On a map, it's approximately here.

What exactly is happening here? If you put your vehicle in neutral at the bottom, it will appear to roll...uphill.

How can this be explained? If you ask a skeptic, they'll tell you it's an optical illusion. However, if you believe the legend shared in the Only In Your State article, it's the supernatural response to a tragic bus accident on this road.

Since I am a natural-born skeptic, I decided to research to see if I could find a story about the bus accident near Freeman, Missouri. One comment on YouTube echoed the story:

Chelbi Schnorf - "The story says that a bunch of kids were in a school bus and were killed by being hit by a train and the kids are pushing you up the hill away from the train tracks."

Others on the same YouTube share claim this is nothing more than an urban legend that has been used to explain other "gravity hills" in other parts of the country.

Let's dig deeper. A "gravity hill" as it is defined on Wikipedia is this:

A gravity hill, also known as a magnetic hill, mystery hill, mystery spot, gravity road, or anti-gravity hill, is a place where the layout of the surrounding land produces an optical illusion, making a slight downhill slope appear to be an uphill slope

A similar illusion can be seen in this water seeming to run uphill in California.

But, what if something else is going on here and it's not just a deception of the eyes?

Is it true? If you're ever on the western side of Missouri near the Kansas line, you can try it yourself and see if "Gravity Hill" is as spooky as some claim.
